Michter’s Announces Release of 2024 Legacy Series

Michter’s, the esteemed American whiskey brand, unveils the highly anticipated 2024 Legacy Series. This unique collection features two exceptional whiskeys, Shenk’s Homestead Kentucky Sour Mash Whiskey and Bomberger’s Declaration Kentucky Straight Bourbon, often overlooked by mainstream drinkers.

A Legacy of Exploration, Not Consistency

Unlike Michter’s core offerings, the Legacy Series embraces year-to-year variation. Each release presents a unique flavor profile, offering whiskey enthusiasts a chance to discover hidden gems within the Michter’s portfolio. As Michter’s President Joseph J. Magliocco states, “Our production team takes a creative approach, ensuring these whiskeys remain exciting and innovative.”

Shenk’s Homestead: A Creamy Twist on Sour Mash

The 2024 Shenk’s Homestead is bottled at 91.2 proof with a suggested retail price of $110. This year’s release introduces caramel malt to the mash bill for the first time. Master Distiller Dan McKee describes it as adding a touch of creaminess that complements the whiskey’s characteristic herbal and spicy notes. Additionally, some barrels utilize wood sourced from the Vosges region of France, adding a touch of unique European influence.

Bomberger’s Declaration: Bold Spice and a Long Finish

Bomberger’s Declaration comes in strong at 108 proof with a suggested retail price of $120. This year’s iteration features malted rye in the mash bill, contributing to its complex flavor profile. The real star of the show, however, is the continued use of Chinquapin oak. This unique wood, air-dried and seasoned for three years, accentuates the whiskey’s dark chocolate and stewed fruit notes, balanced by pronounced spice. Master of Maturation Andrea Wilson highlights the resulting “bold, rich, balanced complexity” with a long, warm finish.

A Toast to Michter’s Storied Past

Both whiskeys in the Legacy Series pay homage to Michter’s rich history. Shenk’s Homestead honors the original Michter’s distillery founded in 1753, while Bomberger’s Declaration continues the legacy of the Bomberger’s Distillery, which eventually became Michter’s in the 1950s.

Uncover the Secrets of Michter’s Legacy Series

Whiskey enthusiasts seeking an unforgettable tasting experience should look no further than Michter’s 2024 Legacy Series. With its emphasis on exploration and unique expressions, these whiskeys are perfect for adventurous palates. Be sure to act fast, though, as these limited-edition releases tend to disappear quickly!
